Orchard Public School

Our town is small but nice.  We are situated in the Northeast part of Nebraska.  The first school was built about 1895.  The school went through the eighth grade and gradually other grades were added.  In 1906 the school burned and a new school was built.  In 1908 the school district was organized under Nebraska school laws and it was now possible to add high school grades.  The first class to graduate attended school through the tenth grade and that was in 1912.  The first class to graduate from the twelfth grade was in 1914.  Enrollment continued to increase and another building was constructed in 1923.  A gymnasium was added to the facility in 1963 and in 1995 a major renovation was done on the existing building adding classrooms and office space.  In 1999 the Orchard school unified with Clearwater and Verdigre to form Nebraska Unified District #1.  Current superintendent is William Kuester and site administrator is Dale Martin.  Today the school serves as the center of the community providing an outstanding education to the young people of the community.  Many graduates have crossed the stage at Orchard High School and traveled far away from Orchard, but they can proudly say that are Orchard High School Graduates.
